Turn a jacket inside out and find yourself with an entirely new piece: it is the simple, age-old principle of reversibility, carried on the shoulders in hand-printed block print cotton with lightweight quilting. Women’s Indian jackets, each with two artisanal faces.
The women’s Indian jackets in the Fab Soft Quilted line are quilted with a thin padding that follows the body without stiffening it. The Pomegranade soft quilted cotton jacket opens the series with its bold motif, followed by the Sahara soft block print cotton jacket in sandy tones. The Fiore Tibet jacket, the Kabir jacket and the Butterfly jacket are variants of the same soft model, each with a different block print pattern that defines its character.
The women’s Indian jackets in the Fab Quilted line stand out for their reversibility: every jacket offers two patterns in a single garment. The Diana reversible quilted cotton jacket, the Louis jacket and the Elisabeth jacket take the quilting to a more structured level, with stitching that traces geometries across the fabric. Two women’s Indian jackets for the price of one, thanks to the double hand-printed face.
Women’s Indian jackets layer harmoniously over Indian shirts for women in printed cotton, creating layers of artisanal patterns. They are also worn over a kurta in Indian cotton for a more structured look, or paired with an Indian cotton bag and a wool shawl when the temperature drops.
Every women’s Indian jacket is born from the union of two artisanal gestures: hand printing and quilting. First the cotton is printed by hand with carved wooden blocks, then the two layers of fabric are stitched together along lines that enhance the design. At the boutique in Via del Banco di Santo Spirito 40, Fabindia Roma presents these Indian jackets as garments to wear and to turn, discovering a different side of the same material each time.
